Cloud Migration Success for Agri-Healthcare Leader: PreludeSys’ SQL to Azure Transformation

About the client

The client is one of the leading providers of employee benefits to members of the agri-business community. The client offers a full range of services, from acute and episodic care to disease management and prevention.

Client challenges

The customer’s on-premises SQL infrastructure lacked the flexibility to scale, creating significant roadblocks and performance issues directly impacting revenue. Maintenance challenges compounded the problem, as hardware and software management consumed time and resources. Additionally, the fixed SSRS setup limited their ability to generate meaningful data reports, hindering their capacity to leverage insights and optimize decision-making processes.

Post-migration, they encountered challenges with the Semantic Model, specifically with the MLR Report/MLR Model Lineage, which required significant adjustments to point at SQL2.

Solution

PreludeSys migrated the customer’s infrastructure from SQL on-premises to Azure Cloud. Key solutions included:

  • Conducted a comprehensive assessment of their existing infrastructure, applications, and dependencies.
  • Oracle source data was integrated, and the MS SQL Server, SSISDB, and SSRDB were configured for Azure.
  • SSRS and Power BI reports were re-pointed to the new Azure SQL Server database.
  • A seamless migration process ensured secure data transfer, maintaining data integrity and compatibility across systems.

Post-migration, support was provided to resolve issues with the MLR Report/MLR Model Lineage. This resulted in successfully extracting the Semantic Model and its repointing it to SQL2.
